He made it to heads-up play however (after the bust out of November Niner Sam Holden) and Jobling held a 2 to 1 chip lead until his A K was struck down by Ferguson’s 9 5, which made a house by the turn.
A deal was then agreed on and Ferguson found new momentum taking the chip lead when he flopped a flush versus Jobling’s pocket sevens. Fifteen minutes later play had wrapped up with the young Scot’s pocket eights holding out against the Newcastle-based player’s A Q.
Ferguson said, “I was in doubt at a few stages but making it to heads up made me feel comfortable. It feels amazing to win and I would really like to play poker full time now.”
